consisting of your elected officials, block leaders, and other citizens who are
concerned and dedicated to promoting the progression 4th Ward. We are actively
seeking information and support. Please join us in this effort.
Jack Drakeford
Born, raised and educated in the city of
Englewood, New Jersey Jack began his career of Public Service by becoming the
city’s 3rd African American firefighter in in the late 1950’s.
He continued serving by becoming the 1st
African American City Clerk and the 1st African American City Manager. As Chief
Executive Officer, Jack was able to guide the City from the highest tax rate in
the Bergen County to one of the lowest in the County, he improved the city’s
bond rating from A to AA and created diverse and balanced employment practices
in the Englewood City Government. Unfortunately those practices no longer exist.
In his career, Jack has sat as City Council
President in three different decades. He has been the president of the Englewood
Board of Education, the Englewood and the Bergen County Housing Authorities
Presently, he has been a Councilman since 1999. He is the current President of
the Bergen County Technical Schools Board of Education
